It seems that despite the lukewarm reception to Jurassic World: Dominion in 2022, the franchise is bouncing back with yet another installment, this time featuring Scarlett Johansson in a leading role. The news of Johansson joining the Jurassic World universe has sparked discussions, especially given her past collaborations with Chris Pratt in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Pratt, known for his role as Star-Lord in the MCU, offered some advice to Johansson regarding her upcoming venture into the world of invisible dinosaurs. Reflecting on his own experience working with CGI and special effects, Pratt emphasized the importance of having fun and enjoying the process while acting opposite things that aren’t actually there. However, his comments about the potential embarrassment of such scenes raised eyebrows, considering Johansson’s extensive experience in blockbuster films involving CGI.
While Pratt’s intentions were undoubtedly well-meaning, his advice may have inadvertently highlighted Johansson’s long-standing experience with effects-heavy films. After all, Johansson’s tenure in the MCU predates Pratt’s involvement, with her iconic portrayal of Black Widow involving numerous scenes featuring CGI and fantastical elements.
Some fans couldn’t help but wonder if Pratt might have offered different advice, such as ensuring character development and avoiding narrative pitfalls, considering the criticisms leveled against the previous Jurassic World installment. Despite any concerns, Jurassic World 4 is slated for release on July 2, 2025, promising another thrilling adventure with dinosaurs, albeit with a new lead at the helm.
