Did BTS’ SUGA get injured during alternative military service?

On July 1, BTS surprised their fans by holding their first group livestream in nearly three years, marking a meaningful moment as all members are preparing to reunite after focusing on their individual projects during their military service. The livestream was especially exciting because it featured SUGA, also known as Min Yoongi, making his first official appearance since finishing his own military service. Fans were thrilled to see the whole group together again, joking and talking about their plans, including a new album set for release in spring 2026.

During the livestream, the group had a light-hearted moment when RM shouted a phrase often used on music shows, prompting the members to show their palms to the camera as part of the gesture. While the other six members joined in, SUGA did not lift his hand, which didn’t seem odd at first. But later, fans noticed that he appeared to be hiding his palm. When he finally waved at the end of the livestream, viewers spotted what looked like an injury or damage to the skin on his palm. This sparked concern among fans, as neither SUGA nor his agency has given any explanation so far.

This concern comes after a previous incident involving SUGA in August 2024, when he was fined for a DUI while riding an electric scooter. After publicly apologizing for the incident, he stepped away from the public eye and completed his 21-month alternative military service through social work, which ended on June 21. Since then, he has slowly begun reconnecting with fans, leaving a heartfelt message on Weverse to express his regret and promise occasional updates. He was also seen attending Jin’s solo concert with fellow members Jungkook and Jimin on June 29, where he posted to Instagram for the first time in two years.
