As the release date for Deadpool 3 approaches, fans are eagerly anticipating the integration of Ryan Reynolds’ superhero movies into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the inclusion of Hugh Jackman reprising his role as Wolverine from the X-Men series.

The first two Deadpool movies, known for their comedic elements and successful box office performance despite an R-rating, are celebrated for their silly action sequences and whimsical visual effects. However, not all aspects of the filmmaking process were a walk in the park, as revealed by Morena Baccarin, who plays the on-screen love interest in the franchise.

Speaking on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast, Baccarin candidly shared her most challenging work experience, describing it as “the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to do at work.” The incident involved an underwater stunt that left a lasting impact on her, to the point where she expressed a strong aversion to shooting in water in the future.

Recounting the ordeal, Baccarin explained that they submerged an entire apartment set in a tank of water for the shoot. To execute the stunt, the actors had to be weighed down so that Baccarin could sit in a chair underwater. The set featured an escape hatch that the actors had to swim to find, all while being in a dark, panic-inducing environment. Despite the intense and challenging nature of the experience, the scene didn’t even make it into the final cut of the film, leaving Baccarin frustrated.

The Firefly sci-fi series star’s reluctance to repeat such an experience is entirely understandable, given the nightmarish conditions described. The behind-the-scenes challenges of creating visually stunning and immersive sequences, even in a comedic superhero film, shed light on the less glamorous aspects of filmmaking and the dedication of actors to their craft.
