Fan-favorite soap star Daniel Goddard is officially making his return to television. The former Young and the Restless actor, best known for playing Cane Ashby for over a decade, will next be seen on General Hospital as a brand-new character named Henry Dalton.

According to Soap Opera Digest, Goddard’s new role is anything but ordinary—he’ll play an environmental physics professor who’s under investigation, adding a layer of mystery to Port Charles. And fans won’t have to wait long: his first episode airs Thursday, April 15, per TV Insider.

Goddard’s return to the screen comes after a three-year break from acting. The 53-year-old opened up about his comeback, revealing that his agent, Michael Bruno, initially submitted him for another role—Jack Brennan. Although he didn’t land that part, the show’s producers were so impressed that they created an entirely new character just for him.

“I was gobsmacked,” he said in an interview with Soap Opera Digest, reflecting on the unexpected opportunity.

Interestingly, Goddard asked General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini not to tell him anything about the character in advance. “I wanted to find Henry organically,” he explained, hoping the discovery process would unfold naturally through his performance—and resonate with viewers the same way.

The Age of Kali actor also took to Instagram to share a heartfelt video celebrating his return to daytime TV and thanking fans for their ongoing support.
