Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott needs only 160 passing yards on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles to pass Tony Romo for the most passing yards in team history. He was limited in practice on Wednesday, but he will still start in Week twelve. The matchup is expected to be another classic between the rivals.
Prescott said he feels humbled to be close to the milestone. He told NBC Sports that he is thankful to be healthy and in a position to break the record. He joked that as a rookie he believed he would reach big goals like this because he was “very arrogant” back then. He also said the achievement is shared with all the great players he has worked with. He said when you play a long time and hold yourself to a high standard, you should expect to reach moments like this.
Prescott has built a strong reputation in the NFC East. Since he entered the league in twenty sixteen, he has a record of thirty five wins and nine losses against division teams. That’s a winning percentage close to eighty percent. He also completes more than sixty six percent of his passes in those games.
Against the Eagles alone, Prescott has nine wins and five losses in regular season and playoff matchups. Even though the Cowboys are four, five and one this season, Prescott should have no problem breaking the passing record on Sunday. He also has a chance to help his team get a big victory against the defending NFC champions.
Prescott is now in his tenth season. He already holds the Cowboys records for career completion rate, career completions, and career passer rating. Passing Romo’s yardage record would add another major mark to his name.
