Culinary Class Wars the famous Korean cooking reality show is returning with its second season. The news came out on November 18. The show will premiere on December 16. It is coming back with even bigger challenges and even tougher competitors. This season will once again bring white spoon chefs who are already famous and decorated with Michelin stars against black spoon chefs who are unknown but hungry for a chance to shine.

The first teaser for the new season was released on the same day. It only showed the voices of the contestants and did not reveal their faces. Even with just their voices the excitement was strong. Many well known chefs are joining the battle. Michelin 2 star chef Lee Jun appears and gets a loud reaction from others. Son Jong Won who runs two restaurants that each have one Michelin star is also in the lineup. There is also Venerable Sunjae known as South Korea’s first master of temple cuisine. Another big name is Heo Deok Juk the country’s master of Chinese cuisine.

The hidden talents the black spoon chefs are also ready to fight for their moment. They want the world to know their names. Some even said that if they can defeat a famous chef their own name will finally come into the spotlight. The prize is huge. Three hundred million won which is about two hundred twenty three thousand dollars. But for many the real reward is global recognition. The show promises intense competition drama and big surprises.

Season one judges Baek Jong Won and Anh Sung Jae were barely shown in the teaser. Baek Jong Won has faced many issues this year related to food labeling and ingredient sourcing which affected how the public sees him. Meanwhile Anh Sung Jae seemed unsure about returning for another season. All these hints make fans even more curious about what season two will bring.
