Colombian shares slipped on Friday, with the main COLCAP index falling 0.48%. Losses in the financial, investment, and public services sectors weighed on the market.
Some companies still managed to post gains. Bolsa de Valores de Colombia rose 1.11% to 12,740. Corporación Financiera Colombiana added 0.90% to close at 17,880, while Grupo de Inversiones Suramericana edged up 0.73% to 44,380.
On the losing side, Bancolombia’s preferred shares dropped 4.05% to 50,660. Canacol Energy slid 3.65% to 7,650, and food giant Grupo Nutresa lost 2.30% to end at 143,520.
In commodities, US coffee for December delivery climbed 2.89% to $397.25. Cocoa slipped 0.72% to $7,474, while gold gained 0.21% to $3,681.25 an ounce.
In currency markets, the peso weakened slightly. The dollar rose 0.10% to 3,898.50 pesos, while the Brazilian real gained 0.74% against the peso to 727.97. The US dollar index ticked up 0.08% to 97.60.
