Colombian equities ended higher on Friday, with strong gains in the industrial, services, and agriculture sectors. The COLCAP index rose 0.33%, reaching its highest level in five years.
Grupo Nutresa led the session with a 3.27% jump, closing at 149,740, a new all-time high for the stock. Corporacion Financiera Colombiana gained 2.13% to finish at 17,260, while Banco de Bogotá added 1.49% to 35,520, marking a fresh 52-week high.
On the downside, Cementos Argos slipped 2.48% to 10,240. Grupo Argos dropped 1.50% to 17,020, and Grupo Energía Bogotá fell 1.50% to 2,955.
In commodities, coffee prices surged, with US coffee for December delivery rising 3.56% to $378. Cocoa for December delivery also gained 2.38% to $7,832, while December gold futures advanced 1.02% to $3,416.25 an ounce.
In currency markets, the Colombian peso strengthened against the US dollar, with USD/COP down 0.62% at 4,012. Against the Brazilian real, the peso weakened slightly, as BRL/COP rose 0.41% to 740.15. Meanwhile, the US Dollar Index fell 0.92% to 97.60.
