Colin Farrell caused a bit of a stir recently when he made a cheeky remark about his co-star Margot Robbie. The 49-year-old appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers earlier this week, talking about their upcoming movie together. Margot Robbie, 35, stars alongside him in the fantasy-romance film A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, which hits theaters tomorrow.
The movie follows two strangers, Sarah and David, who meet at a friend’s wedding. They discover a series of magical doors that let them look back at each other’s pasts, revealing how they got to where they are today. The cast also includes Kevin Kline, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Billy Magnussen.
On the show, Farrell gushed about finally getting the chance to work with Robbie. He said he’d heard incredible things about her from people who had worked with her over the years. “You hear things through the years,” he explained. “It’s a fairly small industry, and everyone I met who worked with Margot said she was extraordinary.”
But then Farrell went a step further, making a remark that quickly grabbed attention. He said Robbie’s work ethic actually “turned” him on. “Not just that she’s an incredible actress,” he said. “But how kind and fun and ‘one of the team’ she is—which is always a turn-on for me. Straight up!”
Robbie seemed amused by the comment, but social media had a field day. Some fans defended Farrell, saying things like “He is only human—geez,” and “How in the hell could he not be?” Others echoed the sentiment, pointing out Robbie’s undeniable beauty.
Still, not everyone bought it. Some believed Farrell’s comment might have been a playful move to promote the movie. One user compared it to similar staged flirty comments made by co-stars in other films. Others dismissed it as the latest celebrity promotion tactic: pretend to have chemistry with your co-star to generate buzz.
Whether sincere or a clever marketing tactic, Farrell’s comment has people talking. Either way, it’s clear the new movie has everyone curious to see how their on-screen chemistry plays out.
