Amazon has officially pulled the plug on the Citadel spin-offs — Citadel: Honey Bunny and Citadel: Diana — after just one season each. But the story isn’t over. Instead of continuing as separate series, the characters and plots from these shows will now be folded into the main Citadel storyline.
The flagship Citadel series, starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden, is set to return in 2026, with a global premiere expected in the second quarter of the year.
Vernon Sanders, Head of Television at Amazon MGM Studios, shared more details, explaining that the Indian and Italian chapters — Honey Bunny starring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Diana — will now be part of Season 2 of the core series.
“While these successful and widely enjoyed international chapters will not continue as individual series, Season 2 of Citadel will be our most exhilarating yet,” Sanders said. He also revealed that the next chapter will dive deeper into the emotional journeys of main characters Nadia (played by Chopra Jonas), Mason (Madden), and Orlick (Stanley Tucci).
Fans can expect higher stakes, intense action, cinematic storytelling, and some fresh faces joining the ensemble. Season 2 is currently in post-production and will bring back familiar faces while also introducing new characters played by Leo Woodall, Ashleigh Cummings, Paul Bazely, Roland Møller, Moira Kelly, and others.
Though the cancellation of the spin-offs may be disappointing to some, it wasn’t entirely unexpected. The franchise had been in limbo ever since Jennifer Salke, who championed the Citadel universe as one of Amazon’s most ambitious global projects, suddenly exited her executive role at the company.
Still, the main series is pushing forward. The plot centers on a fallen global spy agency whose agents had their memories wiped. With the rise of a sinister syndicate called Manticore, these agents must rediscover who they were — and decide whether they have the strength to fight back.
