Chris Pratt recently spoke out about being left out of the big Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement—and fans definitely noticed. Pratt, who’s best known in the Marvel universe as Star-Lord, is expected to return for the next big Avengers flick. But during the live stream revealing the cast, his name—and even his actor’s chair—was nowhere to be seen, leaving fans scratching their heads and speculating.
When asked about it, Pratt took it in stride with a bit of humor. The Garfield and Guardians of the Galaxy star joked, “I don’t know! I think it was, like, far off.” Then, while chatting with Collider, he added, “They must have cut away from it. I don’t know what happened. I don’t know. It was there. I’m sure it was there.” Basically, he seemed as surprised as everyone else.
Marvel later tried to smooth things over, saying that several other key cast members will be credited in the film even though they weren’t part of the live reveal. Pratt wasn’t the only one missing—Tom Holland’s name was also left out. Turns out, that’s because Spider-Man: Brand New Day drops around the same time as Avengers: Doomsday, and Marvel confirmed Spider-Man won’t be in Brand New Day—likely due to timeline overlaps or story reasons.
In other casting news that got fans hyped, several X-Men legends are officially joining Doomsday. That includes Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, and Kelsey Grammer—all returning to their iconic roles.
The upcoming Avengers film is also stacked with returning heroes and fresh faces: Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, and many more.
But the biggest twist? Robert Downey Jr. is making a dramatic comeback to the MCU—not as Iron Man, but as the villainous Dr. Victor Von Doom. Yeah, you read that right. The beloved Tony Stark actor is flipping to the dark side.
As for Pratt, he’s already worked with the Russo Brothers (who are directing Doomsday) on their recent film The Electric State, where he starred alongside Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown. So while his official confirmation for Avengers: Doomsday might’ve been delayed—or mysteriously skipped—he’s clearly still very much in Marvel’s orbit.
