Saturday Night Live star Chloe Fineman recently shared an uncomfortable experience she had at a trendy New York City restaurant, and let’s just say, she didn’t hold back.
Chloe posted a TikTok video recounting what happened when she and her sister Emma stopped by Sant Ambroeus, a popular Italian spot on Madison Avenue. The two sisters were having a great day and decided to grab a bite there.
Things started off smoothly—a server showed them to a table pretty quickly, and Chloe noticed that the restaurant wasn’t even that busy. While settling in, she spotted actress Demi Moore nearby, along with Demi’s tiny dog, Pilaf. Chloe said she’d met Demi before—maybe once or twice—and had even held Pilaf backstage at SNL. So naturally, she said a friendly “hi.” According to Chloe, Demi responded warmly, and her sister Emma confirmed it wasn’t like Chloe barged in or anything—just a polite hello.
But that’s when things took a weird turn.
Chloe said the restaurant manager suddenly appeared and didn’t seem thrilled to see her there. She joked that maybe it was because she wasn’t wearing makeup or didn’t look “important” enough for such a fancy place, even though there were plenty of empty tables around. The manager asked her about the “writer” she was with (possibly mistaking her sister for someone else), and then asked them to follow him elsewhere.
She found the whole thing confusing and a bit insulting. “It felt like you needed to get approval from another Italian guy to sit down, even with a bunch of empty tables,” Chloe said in the video, clearly frustrated. She tried to keep it calm and let him know she was on Saturday Night Live, thinking maybe that would smooth things over—but the manager didn’t care. In fact, he told her he treats everyone the same, regardless of who they are.
The interaction escalated, with Chloe calling the manager “rude,” and him throwing the same word back at her.
Chloe admitted she didn’t want to go into every detail, but said the situation brought out a side of her she’s not proud of—so she decided to just walk away. Reflecting on it, she joked that some might call it a “Karen” moment, though she personally chalks it up to just living in New York, where people can be, as she put it, “rude as f**k.”
In the end, all she did was say hi to Demi Moore’s dog, and somehow ended up in a full-blown confrontation.
