Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes played a significant role in convincing head coach Andy Reid to appear in State Farm commercials. The dynamic duo first starred in a State Farm commercial together in 2022, which gained popularity as Reid drew mustaches on sleeping people’s faces. Despite Reid expressing that he’s “not very good at that stuff,” he went on to star in two more commercials for State Farm.

In an interview with KCTV, Reid credited Mahomes for his continued appearance in the ads, stating, “I’m not an actor, for sure, but you know, something in the offseason that I did and the reason I kinda did it for Pat and they asked us to do another one so I did it.” Reid acknowledged that he might not be comfortable with acting but appreciated the support from the people at State Farm, describing them as great to work with.

Mahomes, with his influence and likely his positive experience with State Farm, played a role in getting both Andy Reid and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce to join the insurance company’s advertising efforts. Kelce appeared in a 2023 State Farm commercial in which Jake from State Farm convinces him to change his last name to “MaAuto” and become “the best home and auto bundle in the league.” Despite any reservations about acting, Reid and Kelce became part of the State Farm advertising family with Mahomes at the forefront.
