Charlie Murphy, known for her role as Jessie Eden in Peaky Blinders, has revealed she is expecting a baby after a challenging journey involving five rounds of IVF over two years. The 37-year-old Irish actress opened up about the emotional and financial toll the process took on her, describing it as “grueling” and likening it to gambling at a casino, where each IVF attempt felt like a risky investment of time, money, and hope.

In a heartfelt interview with the Irish Times, Murphy shared how even after testing positive for pregnancy, she held back her celebration due to PTSD from the IVF treatments. She described welcoming the pregnancy symptoms as a relief, simply glad to be done with the exhausting cycles.

Murphy also disclosed suffering a miscarriage during the process, a common but heartbreaking part of many IVF journeys. Though initially private about her struggles, she felt compelled to share her story to support and connect with other women facing similar challenges.

She’s been in a relationship with British director Sam since 2019, and the couple currently reside together in their Stoke Newington home in London. Reports say she is due to give birth this month.

Besides Peaky Blinders, Murphy has appeared in the BAFTA-winning Happy Valley and Netflix’s Obsession. Meanwhile, Peaky Blinders is gearing up for its return to BBC One, set to shift into the 1950s, focusing on Teddy Boys and the rise of the infamous Kray twins in East London.
