Channing Tatum has opened up about his personal life, sharing reflections on his divorce from ex-wife Jenna Dewan. The couple, who met on the set of Step Up, were married for ten years and share a daughter, Evelyn. Tatum is now in a relationship with Inka Williams.
Speaking with Variety while promoting his upcoming movie Roofman, Tatum described the divorce as painful. “Jenna and I are good now, but it was a painful break to have that fall apart, especially being so young. We tried to keep it together, tried for a year and a half, but we knew it was… Not to go into all that,” he said.
Tatum also admitted that being away from his daughter is tough. “It’s in the past. But it’s really tough not to have your daughter half the time. I wish I could just have her all the time,” he shared.
The actor reflected on how the experience shaped him. “Life gives you fuel. If you’ve really been heartbroken, and really been in pain and felt real, true aloneness … I’ve experienced enough life that I have something to offer. The technique and the ability to actually deliver,” he said.
Tatum and Dewan began dating in 2006 and got engaged two years later. On the work front, Channing Tatum will next appear in Roofman, set to hit theaters on October 10, and he will also reprise his role as Gambit in Avengers: Doomsday.
