Cauliflower Buffalo Wings are a vegetarian twist on the classic game day snack, offering all the flavor and crunch without the meat. This recipe features crispy cauliflower florets tossed in spicy buffalo sauce, creating a delicious and addictive appetizer that’s perfect for parties or casual gatherings.
Ingredients: For the cauliflower:
- 1 head cauliflower, cut into florets
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk or plant-based milk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the buffalo sauce:
- 1/2 cup hot sauce (such as Frank’s RedHot)
- 1/4 cup melted butter or margarine
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional for sweetness)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease with cooking spray.
- In a bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, milk, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper to create a batter.
- Dip cauliflower florets into the batter, shaking off any excess, then place them on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
- Bake cauliflower florets in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through.
- While the cauliflower is baking, prepare the buffalo sauce. In a separate bowl, whisk together hot sauce, melted butter or margarine, honey or maple syrup (if using), garlic powder, paprika, and salt.
- Once the cauliflower is done baking, transfer it to a large bowl and pour the buffalo sauce over the top. Toss until the cauliflower is evenly coated in the sauce.
- Return the sauced cauliflower to the baking sheet and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes to crisp up the coating.
- Serve Cauliflower Buffalo Wings hot with ranch or blue cheese dressing and celery sticks for dipping. Enjoy this vegetarian twist on a classic snack!
