American rapper Cardi B has been in the spotlight recently over a legal battle with a Beverly Hills security guard who accused her of assault back in 2018. After several days in court, the jury cleared Cardi of all charges, ending the high-profile case. Following her victory in the $24 million lawsuit, Cardi didn’t hold back and warned anyone thinking of suing her for false reasons in the future.
The case started when Cardi’s former security guard, Emani Ellis, filed a lawsuit claiming that Cardi had scratched her face and spat on her during a visit to her obstetrician’s office in Beverly Hills. At the time, Cardi was four months pregnant with her first child with Offset. Ellis claimed the alleged attack caused injuries requiring plastic surgery, cost her job, and left emotional scars.
Cardi, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, told a very different story. She said Ellis had followed her and filmed her without permission, invading her privacy while she was trying to keep her pregnancy a secret. Cardi’s version of events was supported by her doctor and the clinic receptionist, who said they never witnessed any fight. The rapper maintained that no physical confrontation took place.
On September 2, 2025, the Los Angeles jury ruled in Cardi’s favor after less than an hour of deliberation. They rejected Ellis’s claims, awarding her nothing, and declared Cardi not liable for the $24 million lawsuit. The decision finally closed a case that had dragged on for years.
Throughout the trial, Cardi stayed true to herself—unfiltered and unapologetic. She said the lawsuit had disrupted both her career and family life. Outside the courtroom, she made it clear: “I will say it on my deathbed. I did not touch that woman. I did not touch that girl. I didn’t lay my hands on that girl.”
After the win, Cardi also issued a sharp warning to anyone considering a false lawsuit against her. She said, “The next person who tries to do a frivolous lawsuit against me, I’m going to countersue, and I’m gonna make you pay. I am not that celeb that you sue and think is going to settle. I’m not gonna settle. Especially when I’m completely innocent.”
With the legal battle behind her, Cardi B is now turning her focus back to music. Her second album, Am I the Drama?, is set to release on September 19, 2025.
