Canadian equities closed higher on Friday, with the S&P/TSX Composite rising 0.60% to a new all-time high. Gains were driven by materials, energy, and renewable energy sectors.

Top performers included Endeavour Silver, up 12.72% to 13.74, Aya Gold & Silver, rising 12% to 19.04 and hitting a 52-week high, and First Majestic Silver, up 11.35% to 21.10.

The biggest decliners were North West Company, down 1.52% to 49.21, Aritzia, down 1.52% to 110.50, and Dollarama, down 1.24% to 199.95. Overall, 678 stocks rose, 237 fell, and 57 remained unchanged.

In commodities, gold futures for February delivery rose 1.27% to 4,255.80 per troy ounce. Crude oil fell slightly, with January WTI at 58.48 per barrel and February Brent at 62.32 per barrel.

On the currency front, the Canadian dollar was mostly unchanged. CAD/USD stayed at 0.72 and CAD/EUR at 0.62. The US Dollar Index futures dipped slightly to 99.43.
