The Milwaukee Bucks are doing everything they can to keep their superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo happy. They’ve already made some changes this offseason, but they might need to make one more big move if they want him to stay longer.
Giannis has been with the team for years, and although he’s not planning to leave right now, there’s always been some uncertainty about his future. He’s a two-time MVP and wants to win more championships. So if the Bucks don’t build a strong team around him, he might eventually decide to go elsewhere.
One player that could help make the Bucks better is Myles Turner, but even that might not be enough. The team could also try to go after Jonathan Kuminga, a young and talented player from the Golden State Warriors.
Kuminga is currently a restricted free agent, which means his current team (the Warriors) has control over whether he can leave or not. But the Bucks are reportedly interested in signing him. This news comes from Anthony Slater of The Athletic. He says the Bucks could try to get Kuminga through a sign-and-trade deal, where both teams agree to a swap.
The tricky part is that Kuminga and his agent want to go to a team where he’ll be a key part of the lineup, not just sitting on the bench. They want him to be trusted and featured in the team’s game plan. If he’s still unsigned, he might meet with teams during the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, which could give Milwaukee a chance to pitch their plan.
With Damian Lillard no longer on the team and a need for more young energy and scoring, Kuminga could be a great fit for Milwaukee. And let’s be real, playing next to Giannis could be a huge reason for Kuminga to say yes.
So now the question is: Can the Bucks convince Kuminga to join them and help keep Giannis happy? Only time will tell, but one good meeting could change everything.
