Exciting news for fans of Byeon Woo Seok! The popular actor has been confirmed to star in a new fantasy K-drama. On June 11, Netflix announced that he will lead the live-action adaptation of Solo Leveling. This new role will show a very different side of him compared to his past characters, and fans are already looking forward to it.
Byeon Woo Seok will play the main character, Sung Jin Wook, in the drama. Sung Jin Wook is an E-ranked hunter, which means he’s one of the weakest people fighting against monsters that come through strange Gates. But after surviving a dangerous situation, he gains special powers and slowly becomes one of the strongest fighters in the world.
The story focuses on his journey from a weak and powerless hunter to a powerful hero who may be the last hope for humanity. This exciting transformation will be at the heart of the new fantasy series.
The drama will be produced by Netflix, along with Kakao Entertainment and Sanai Pictures. It is based on the very popular webtoon Solo Leveling. Before this live-action version, the series was also turned into an anime. The anime became a huge hit and even won nine major awards at the 2025 Crunchyroll Awards, including Anime of the Year and Best Action.
