The Milwaukee Bucks continue to insist they have no plans to trade Giannis Antetokounmpo, but if their recent roster changes don’t lead to success, that stance could shift quickly. This offseason, the Bucks made some big moves to stay competitive in the Eastern Conference, including signing Myles Turner to a four-year, $108.9 million deal and waiving Damian Lillard, spreading the remaining $113 million of his contract over five seasons. They also brought back several important role players in hopes of keeping their title hopes alive.
Still, if things don’t go well on the court, there’s a chance Giannis could ask for a trade. Sports Illustrated’s Alan Goldsher suggests that if that time comes, the Boston Celtics might be ready to step in with a major offer. His proposed trade would send Jaylen Brown, Payton Pritchard, Anfernee Simons, and three future first-round picks (2026, 2028, and 2030) to Milwaukee in exchange for Giannis Antetokounmpo and A.J. Green.
For the Bucks, this would be a chance to stay competitive while planning for the future. Brown is already a four-time All-Star and could take over as the team’s top scorer. Pritchard just won the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award and could thrive in a larger role. Simons, who’s on an expiring contract, would offer financial flexibility moving forward.
Right now, a Giannis trade still seems unlikely. But if Milwaukee struggles early in the season, the pressure could mount, and Boston may be one of the few teams with the assets to make a deal possible.
