Just a few days after finishing their military service, BTS members V and Jungkook are already showing how powerful their global presence still is. Even without releasing any new music or content, the two idols made headlines and completely took over social media, proving their unmatched popularity.

V becomes most-followed K-pop male idol on Instagram

Kim Taehyung, known as V, was officially discharged from his military duties on June 10, 2025. He served in the Special Duty Team (SDT) of the 2nd Corps Military Police in Chuncheon, a highly respected and physically demanding unit. Just six days later, on June 16, he made a huge mark online.

V gained around 864,000 new followers on Instagram in just one week, bringing his total to 67.7 million. With this, he became the most-followed K-pop male idol on Instagram, once again reminding the world of his star power. Fans everywhere were thrilled to see how strong his influence still is, even after being away from the spotlight for nearly 18 months.

Jungkook shines on TikTok and YouTube

While V dominates Instagram, Jungkook has taken over TikTok and YouTube. He doesn’t have a personal Instagram account, only one for his pet dog Bam. But after completing his service on June 11, Jungkook’s popularity bounced back instantly.

On TikTok, he gained more than 200,000 new followers in just a few days, raising his total to 21.7 million. This places him among the top Korean soloists on the platform. Over on YouTube, his videos have also seen a massive increase in views, hitting over 3.1 million daily views. Fans and media noticed that these numbers are higher than many currently active K-pop groups, proving just how strong his fanbase is.

V enlisted on December 11, 2023, and served his time as a sergeant in the SDT. His role was physically intense and highly disciplined, and he completed it with pride. Jungkook joined one day later on December 12, 2023, along with Jimin, as part of the ‘companion enlistment program.’ Both served in the 5th Infantry Division, supporting each other through the experience.

Now that V and Jungkook are back, fans are growing more excited than ever. Jin, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, and V have already returned, and SUGA is set to finish his alternative service on June 21. While BIGHIT MUSIC hasn’t shared any official plans for a full group comeback yet, fans are eagerly waiting. Whether it’s solo projects or a long-awaited OT7 reunion, one thing is clear: BTS is back, and the world is ready for them.
