On June 15, BIGHIT MUSIC released a behind-the-scenes video titled Jin (진) Dingo Live Shoot Sketch on the official BANGTANTV YouTube channel, offering a touching glimpse into BTS member Jin’s preparations for a live performance of his duet “Loser” featuring soloist YENA. The candid footage highlights not only the technical aspects of rehearsals but also the emotional challenges that come with stepping outside the familiar comfort of BTS.
Among the light-hearted clips of Jin joking with staff and practicing vocals, one moment stood out in particular—his honest reflection on performing duets. Jin admitted that collaborating with non-BTS members still feels unfamiliar, despite his years of experience. “It feels a bit awkward singing with people that aren’t the members. I’ve worked with the members for at least a decade,” he shared. He elaborated further, “I can’t help but respect people that do duets. For me… it’s difficult when I hear someone else’s voice. I guess it gets a bit confusing? When you sing, you sometimes end up following the other person’s note.” Still, Jin emphasized his commitment to pushing through that discomfort with professionalism and effort.
Despite his personal doubts, Jin’s duet “Loser” with YENA has received an overwhelmingly positive response. Fans have praised the striking contrast between Jin’s mellow, emotional tone and YENA’s powerful, expressive voice. The track’s dynamic blend of vocals has been widely celebrated as a standout on Jin’s solo album Echo, with many taking to social media to compliment their surprising yet harmonious chemistry.
Echo, released on May 16, 2025, marks a deeply introspective chapter in Jin’s solo journey. The 7-track album leans heavily into emotional storytelling, delicate production, and heartfelt lyricism. Its title track, “Don’t Say You Love Me,” arrived alongside a cinematic music video starring actress Shin Se Kyung and instantly captivated fans with its raw vulnerability. Through Echo, Jin delves into themes of loss, self-reflection, and healing—offering fans a mirror into his inner world during his time away from the group.
The Echo tracklist includes:
- Don’t Say You Love Me – Title Track
- Nothing Without Your Love
- Loser (feat. YENA)
- Rope It
- 구름과 떠나는 여행 (With the Clouds)
- Background
- 오늘의 나에게 (To Me, Today)
While Jin openly acknowledges the emotional labor of stepping out on his own, especially in collaborative settings, his dedication to growth as an artist shines through. With Echo, he not only reintroduces himself to the world but also redefines what it means to be a soloist in his own voice.
