Rumors about a surprise collaboration between Michael Jackson and BTS were spreading like wildfire on August 4. The Irish Sun reported that, according to Paddy Dunning, the owner of Grouse Lodge studio, BTS had supposedly recorded an unreleased Michael Jackson song. Fans went wild, but BTS quickly stepped in to set the record straight.
The group’s agency, BIGHIT MUSIC, posted an official statement on X in both Korean and English. They denied any involvement in the project, saying BTS never visited Grouse Lodge Studio in Ireland and didn’t record any song for a Michael Jackson tribute album. They also emphasized that the group is currently in Los Angeles, working quietly on their next album. The agency promised to take steps to stop the spread of false information and thanked fans for their support.
The story seemed to have sparked from old unreleased tracks Michael Jackson recorded in Ireland back in 2006. Over the years, there were occasional rumors about a tribute album featuring big-name stars, but BTS confirmed they aren’t part of it. For fans hoping for a collaboration between the King of Pop and the K-pop kings, it looks like this one was just wishful thinking.
