Bose has introduced its new QuietComfort Earbuds, priced at $179, as a direct competitor to Apple’s upcoming AirPods 4. The new earbuds are designed to offer high-end features at a more accessible price point, providing active noise cancellation, wireless charging, and up to 8.5 hours of battery life, with the possibility of extended usage depending on the ANC settings.
Available in black, white, and purple, the QuietComfort Earbuds boast several distinctive features not commonly found in other earbuds. Notably, they include Remote Selfie functionality, which allows users to use the earbuds as a remote shutter for their phone’s camera, a feature unique to this model. They also come equipped with a “Hey headphones” command for activating voice assistants and a low-latency mode ideal for gaming.
The earbuds are engineered with Bose’s renowned noise cancellation technology, incorporating three microphones in each earbud to enhance both noise reduction and call quality. They are also IPX4-rated for water and sweat resistance, making them suitable for a variety of environments and activities. Bose includes three sizes of ear tips and a set of stability bands to ensure a comfortable and secure fit.
At $179, the QuietComfort Earbuds are positioned to compete directly with Apple’s AirPods 4, which are also set to be released this week with active noise cancellation. While both products are priced similarly, they offer different designs: Bose’s earbuds use silicone tips for a more sealed fit, whereas the AirPods 4 feature an open design. The QuietComfort Earbuds fall in the lineup below Bose’s flagship QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds and the innovative Ultra Open Earbuds.
