Blue Origin’s latest all-female spaceflight, which took place on April 14, 2025, has been the subject of much excitement, especially with high-profile passengers like pop star Katy Perry, NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, film producer Kerianne Flynn, and CBS host Gayle King. However, there’s significant curiosity surrounding the cost of tickets for such an extraordinary experience.

While Virgin Galactic openly charges between $200,000 and $450,000 per flight, Blue Origin has kept its ticket prices under wraps. The company asks for a refundable deposit of $150,000 to initiate bookings, but the final price is reportedly negotiated privately. This means that individuals above 18 can reserve a seat for a journey to space through Blue Origin’s official website, but the actual cost is based on personal negotiations rather than a fixed price.

In 2021, Blue Origin reportedly sold a seat for $28 million to 18-year-old Oliver Daemen, though some celebrities, such as Star Trek’s William Shatner, flew for free. Experts suggest that the pricing is influenced not just by financial means, but by one’s social capital and alignment with Blue Origin’s mission. As Roman Chiporukha, co-founder of SpaceVIP, explained to The Observer, “It’s not about money; it’s about who you are, your social capital, and whether you align with their launch purposes.”

The NS-31 mission, which was Blue Origin’s 11th crewed flight since 2021, marked a historical milestone as the first all-female space mission since Valentina Tereshkova’s solo flight in 1963. The flight lasted around 11 minutes, with passengers spending eight minutes above the Karman Line, the boundary of space, which sits 62 miles above Earth. Despite the exclusive nature of the mission, Blue Origin continues to keep the specifics of their pricing and selection process largely private.
