Recently, Blake Lively’s lawyers asked a judge to make Justin Baldoni, his company Wayfarer Studios, and others hand over detailed financial records. This move comes amid a massive $400 million lawsuit filed against the actress.
According to TMZ, Lively’s legal team sent a letter to the judge last Friday, asking for these documents because they had tried to get them before but hit a wall.
Blake’s team said they had even met with Justin Baldoni’s lawyers and requested the financial papers they needed. However, Baldoni’s side only agreed to share “non-privileged documents” about their damages, refusing to provide the specific records Blake’s team was after.
To recap, Justin Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios filed a $400 million lawsuit against Blake Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and The New York Times. This came after Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and trying to smear his reputation.
Blake’s lawyers argue that the $400 million damage claim is based on supposed harm to the reputation and income of those suing her. So now, Baldoni and his team have to prove their numbers with actual evidence.
Also, Blake’s team pointed out that It Ends With Us (a big hit movie) was hugely successful, despite Baldoni’s side saying they lost money. They say these loss claims are vague and not backed up with clear details.
This back-and-forth is the latest chapter in a high-profile legal battle that’s got Hollywood watching closely.
