In the September 27th episode of JTBC’s My Name is Gabriel, BLACKPINK’s Jennie takes on the role of Maria, a farmhouse B&B owner from Paliano, Italy, born in 1996. Produced by Kim Tae Ho, known for the hit MBC program Infinite Challenge, this variety show follows cast members as they immerse themselves in the lives of others abroad for 72 hours.
In a pre-show interview, Jennie revealed her thoughts on a potential career outside of her celebrity status. She often discusses this with friends and mentioned that she would likely pursue a career in fashion, believing she would excel as an event planner. Excited about stepping into Maria’s shoes, she arrived at the ranch after completing a fashion show in Capri, Italy, feeling a bit flustered as she adjusted to her new surroundings.
Upon her arrival, Jennie met Roberta, a close friend of Maria’s, who introduced her to Bambi, a beloved horse that Maria adored. As Jennie brushed Bambi’s mane, she experienced a wave of nostalgia, recalling her childhood memories of feeding horses apples and carrots. She reminisced about how she would insist on staying at the horse farm in New Zealand even when her family called her back to Korea for the holidays.
Later, during dinner with Maria’s mother, Jennie was touched by her story. Maria’s mother shared how she moved to the countryside after suffering a stroke at just 21, passionately discussing the beauty of life in nature and the importance of choice in love. Jennie nodded along, moved by her mother’s wisdom.
The following day marked the start of Jennie’s official duties at the B&B. Fluent in English, she drove three young Italian men into the city to pick up guests, sparking curiosity when one guest remarked, “You look really familiar.” This hint of recognition adds an intriguing element for what’s to come in the next episode.
During her 72-hour journey as Maria, Jennie immerses herself in various tasks, from picking up guests and preparing meals to hosting banquets and conducting cooking classes. The episode promises to showcase her heartwarming interactions with Maria’s mother as they work side by side at the guesthouse. Fans can look forward to Jennie’s culinary talents as she harvests fresh ingredients from the farm to create homemade meals for her guests.
