The release of Black Widow’s first solo action film in 2021 was met with a generally positive reception. Recently, fans discovered an alternate ending for the film, titled ‘Ohio,’ while exploring the special features after the movie’s digital release.
In this alternate scene, Natasha, portrayed by Scarlett Johansson, visits her childhood neighborhood in Ohio, where she spent her formative years as an undercover Russian agent. While there, she encounters a young girl dressed as Black Widow, playfully pretending to engage in combat with electric stun bracelets. Natasha reciprocates the gesture, smiling at the girl, signifying a passing of the torch or a continuation of her heroic legacy.
Many fans found this alternate ending more emotionally resonant and fitting, providing closure and emphasizing the enduring impact of Black Widow’s heroism even after her passing. Unlike the existing ending, which didn’t add much new insight into the character or serve as a proper farewell to one of the Avengers’ founding members, this scene felt more meaningful and poignant.
