Black Phone 2 had another solid weekend in the US. The film stayed in the top three even though a few new movies came out on Friday. It kept the number three spot. The only movies ahead of it were the new Predator Badlands and the film Regretting You, which has been running for almost three weeks.
The movie had a strong start with twenty seven point three million dollars in its first weekend. In the second weekend it made twelve point nine million dollars. That was a drop of about fifty three percent. In the third weekend it brought in eight point three million dollars. The drop that time was smaller at about thirty five percent. This weekend it earned five point three million dollars. The drop was only thirty six percent. This is good because the film even lost more than three hundred theatres and is now showing in a little under three thousand screens.
The movie stars Ethan Hawke and Mason Thames. It still managed to make more than one million dollars on each day of the weekend. Saturday even crossed two million dollars. So far the film has made one hundred twenty point four million dollars worldwide. Out of this about seventy million dollars came from the US. Around fifty million dollars came from other countries.
The film has also crossed a few milestones. It has now earned more than The Conjuring 3 in the US. It has also passed the domestic total of One Battle After Another. That film stars Leonardo DiCaprio and was expected to do very well but did not perform as expected.
Black Phone 2 is doing all this without a big studio like Warner Bros behind it. It also does not have a huge star cast. Even then audiences across the US are supporting it strongly. Because of this the film is expected to finish its US run at around eighty five million dollars.
The current totals stand at about seventy point one million dollars domestic. About fifty point three million dollars international. And around one hundred twenty point four million dollars worldwide.
