G-Dragon, leader of BIGBANG, and Yang Hyun Suk, founder of YG Entertainment, are facing an investigation over alleged song plagiarism. The issue involves a track from G-Dragon’s 2010 live album, Shine a Light. According to an E Daily report on August 12, an unidentified person accused G-Dragon in November 2024 of copying a song he had composed. YG Entertainment has denied the allegations.

The complaint, filed by a composer known as A, claims that YG Entertainment used his composition without permission, producing and distributing it as part of G-Dragon’s album. The original song, allegedly titled G-Dragon, was reportedly renamed My Age Is 13 by YG Entertainment. It was then included in the album as My Age Is 13 + Storm + Hip Hop Gentlemen + G-Dragon, listed as the fifth track with a runtime of 4 minutes 15 seconds.

Following the complaint, Seoul’s Mapo Police Station began investigating. Authorities questioned involved individuals and conducted at least two raids, including one at YG Entertainment’s headquarters. A police official stated that the investigation is ongoing and specific details could not be confirmed.

Further reports revealed that Mr. A also filed complaints against Yang Min Suk, current CEO of YG Entertainment and younger brother of Yang Hyun Suk, and Choi Sung Jun, CEO of YG Plus. YG Entertainment responded, denying any copying. They explained that two songs with the same title had been prepared during planning for G-Dragon’s solo concert in 2009.
