Actress Betty White, an iconic figure, passed away just weeks before her 100th birthday in 2021. Known for her wit and charm, White’s home was as memorable as she was. In 2017, she provided a MTV Cribs-style tour of her beloved home through a YouTube video, showcasing its chic features, including kitchen roosters, a Rockstar Energy-filled fridge, a framed aquarium, and even a mid-tour magic show in the bedroom.
White, known for her humorous take on life, jokingly shared her secrets to a long life in an interview with People, saying, “I try to avoid anything green. I think it’s working.” The contents of her fridge during the house tour reflected her penchant for Rockstar, hot dogs, and mac and cheese.
After her passing, Betty White’s Brentwood, California home, where she had lived for over half a century, was put up for sale in April 2022 for $10.5 million. The home, filled with White’s sunny disposition, sold for $10.678 million within a month, but the purchasers decided to tear it down.
Just before the first anniversary of her death, the home was demolished, as it was sold for its land value. The property was described as a “unique opportunity to build your dream home on a flat lot in a serene country setting.”
Betty White’s Instagram page, managed by her assistant Kiersten Mikelas, confirmed the demolition. Comedian Chelcie Lynn mentioned in the comments that they had salvaged the big yellow front door of the home.
While her Brentwood home was torn down, Betty White’s beach house in Carmel was also put up for sale and sold in April 2022 for $10.775 million. Built with her husband, Allen Ludden, the beachfront getaway held sentimental value, and its sale was described as embodying the spirit of Betty and Allen. The house, with giant windows perfect for enjoying seaside views, offered a peaceful retreat for Betty White and her loved ones.
