Ben Affleck and Tom Brady have been close friends for quite some time, and Affleck recently couldn’t help but gush about their bond during a podcast with Jason and Travis Kelce. The “Accountant 2” star shared a fun story about how he got to run routes with the legendary seven-time Super Bowl champ, which caught the Kelce brothers’ attention—especially when the former Philadelphia Eagles player asked what kind of routes Affleck was running.
Affleck admitted, “Honestly, I don’t even know if those routes have official names. I probably embarrassed every pro receiver out there! But, aside from the birth of my kids, that day was hands down one of the best of my life.”
He went on to explain that he and Brady happened to be vacationing in the same place, and Brady needed someone to throw passes with. Affleck joked about how he thought he was helping Brady out, but Brady probably had other plans. He recalled Brady giving him simple instructions like, “Go out here, turn around, turn around,” and Affleck said he ran as fast as he could, nervous about possibly breaking his nose again if he missed a catch. After a few throws, Brady suggested throwing the ball with a bit more air, but Affleck was already overwhelmed by the speed.
The actor also shared how Brady told him to imagine it was the fourth quarter with just 23 seconds left on the clock, and to run like the game was on the line. Affleck just had to keep going.
This isn’t the first time Affleck has praised Brady’s athletic greatness—in 2020, he called him the greatest football player ever.
