Ben Affleck is finally addressing his split from Jennifer Lopez, shutting down rumors of secret drama and scandal. In a candid interview with GQ, the actor reflected on the complexities of their breakup, describing it as a gradual and natural process rather than a shocking or dramatic event.
One of the key differences in their relationship, he admitted, was how they handled fame. Lopez, he said, embraces the public eye with ease, while he prefers a more private and low-key lifestyle. This contrast created challenges between them, though he emphasized that it wasn’t a source of hostility. “As happens in relationships, you don’t always have the same attitude towards these things,” he explained.
Despite their differences, Affleck made it clear that he still has deep respect for Lopez. “I hope I was clear that [Lopez] is somebody I have a lot of respect for,” he said, shutting down any notion of lingering resentment.
Rumors had swirled that Lopez’s 2024 documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told, would expose the real reason behind their split. However, Affleck dismissed such speculation, saying people often search for a single root cause when breakups are usually much more mundane. “The truth is much more quotidian than people would believe or would be interesting,” he explained.
Affleck was firm in denying any soap-opera-level drama between him and Lopez. “There’s no scandal, no intrigue,” he said. “It’s just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all normally do.”
