Barcelona have made their second signing of the summer transfer window, bringing in 19-year-old winger Roony Bardghji from FC Copenhagen. This comes after they secured goalkeeper Joan Garcia from Espanyol earlier in June.
The Catalan giants are coming off a fantastic 2024/25 season, where they won La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Supercopa de España. With eyes now on building for the future, Bardghji arrives as a young, exciting addition to their squad.
Barça signed Bardghji for an initial fee of around €2 million ($2.35 million), a steal, considering the teenager’s contract with Copenhagen was set to expire in December. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the deal includes performance-based add-ons and a sell-on clause, which would give Copenhagen a future cut if he’s sold later.
Bardghji landed in Barcelona over the weekend and was introduced to his new teammates on Sunday, as per ESPN.
What’s Next for Roony Bardghji?
The talented winger will take part in Barcelona’s pre-season friendlies to prove himself to new head coach Hansi Flick. His performance in these matches will determine whether he’s included in the senior team for the upcoming season, or if he starts with Barcelona B or goes out on loan, several La Liga clubs are already showing interest in a temporary deal.
Barcelona kick off their pre-season tour in Asia on July 27, with their first match against Japanese club Vissel Kobe. Their 2025/26 La Liga campaign begins on August 16 with a clash against RCD Mallorca.
While Bardghji is viewed as a long-term project, his immediate future will depend on how he performs in the coming weeks. Still, for such a low-cost signing, this could prove to be a smart investment in Barcelona’s next generation.
