The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) seems to finally be turning a corner. After a rocky few years, fans are once again buzzing with excitement, this time thanks to Avengers: Doomsday. Leaks are few, hype is high, and Marvel might just be getting its magic back.
Let’s be honest, Phase 5 has been Marvel’s “rebuilding era.” Some missteps, a lot of experimentation, and moments that left fans wondering if the glory days were over. But then came Thunderbolts, and people started paying attention again. It wasn’t just a good movie; it signalled a creative shift, one that Avengers: Doomsday is expected to follow.
Up next is Fantastic Four: First Steps, and what’s weird, but in a good way, is how quiet everything has been. No major spoilers. No full cast leaks. And that’s rare in today’s internet age. There’s heavy speculation about Robert Downey Jr. appearing as Doctor Doom, but that’s all it is right now: speculation. Still, fans are crossing their fingers. If Marvel wants to build up to Doomsday, Doctor Doom feels like the obvious key.
Speaking of Doomsday, don’t expect any behind-the-scenes chaos or blurry leaked photos. The Russo Brothers, who are returning to direct the film, made it clear, they’re keeping this one under wraps. No set leaks. No big rumours. Just show up at the theatre and let it hit you fresh. To make that happen, they’re filming in remote locations like Bahrain, far away from nosy cameras and internet scoopers.
And even without leaks, we’ve already got a long list of confirmed characters showing up in Avengers: Doomsday. Here’s a taste:
Doctor Doom, Yelena Belova, Captain America (Sam Wilson), Shuri as Black Panther, Thor, Loki, U.S. Agent, Bucky Barnes, Sentry, Ghost, Red Guardian, the new Falcon (Joaquin Torres), Shang-Chi, Ant-Man, Captain Carter, Namor, Namora, Attuma, M’Baku, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, Reed Richards, The Thing, Charles Xavier, Magneto, Beast, Cyclops, Mystique, Gambit, and Nightcrawler.
For longtime fans, seeing names like Cyclops, Magneto, and Nightcrawler on that list is a big deal. These are classic X-Men characters who’ve never quite gotten their moment in the MCU spotlight. That could finally change with this movie. Marvel seems to be taking its time and being extra careful, there’s no other MCU release scheduled for 18 months between Fantastic Four and Avengers: Doomsday. That pause is on purpose. They’re clearing the runway for something massive.
Marvel isn’t just dropping another Avengers movie. They’re planning a full-blown comeback.
