Former THE BOYZ member Ju Haknyeon has been cleared of legal suspicion following recent misconduct allegations that fueled intense online speculation and led to his sudden departure from the group. On July 2, Seoul’s Gangnam Police Station confirmed that a complaint filed against him in June has been dismissed due to lack of evidence.
Ju Haknyeon controversy details
The situation began in May 2025 when online rumors claimed that Ju Haknyeon had been spotted at a private lounge in Tokyo with Kirara Asuka, a former Japanese adult film actress. Although no formal charges were ever made, the reports quickly gained traction and sparked a wave of criticism. Amid the growing controversy, his agency announced that Ju would be leaving both the group and the company.
In the aftermath, Ju publicly denied all allegations of wrongdoing. He emphasized that there had been no illegal activity during his time in Japan and disagreed with the decision to terminate his contract. He also clarified that he had not willingly left THE BOYZ and planned to take legal action against those responsible for spreading false or defamatory claims. His firm denial led to a divided response from fans and the wider public, with some questioning whether his exit had been entirely voluntary or the result of external pressure.
The complaint, submitted on June 19, called for an official investigation into the rumors. However, the police concluded that the claim lacked sufficient grounds to pursue legal action. Authorities explained that the complaint primarily referenced an online article and did not include solid evidence or verifiable details—criteria necessary for opening a criminal case.
Following the dismissal, the individual who filed the complaint expressed dissatisfaction, arguing that other public cases had been taken seriously based on media reports alone. They noted that while the police decided not to proceed, the absence of an investigation does not necessarily mean the accusation was proven false.
