On Saturday, seven Palestinian people in Gaza were killed, and many more were injured in another Israeli airstrike. The attacks came just under six months after a ceasefire, brokered by the US, came into effect.
A drone strike hit civilians gathered near a police post on the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza at around 11 a.m. local time. Civilian Defence spokesman, Mahmoud Bassal, told AFP that there would be multiple casualties due to the number of people affected and the extremely challenging circumstances ambulance personnel would face in getting victims to the hospital.
Six bodies and seven injured persons were taken to al-Aqsa hospital in Central Gaza. Four of the injured were listed as being in critical condition. Al-Awda hospital, which is located close to al-Aqsa, reported one person killed and two other persons injured from the drone attack.
In addition to civilians being attacked and injured in the Bureij, a drone strike hit a tent that displaced persons were using as a shelter in Bani Suheila, east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, resulting in a minimum of three injuries. In addition to the drone strikes, shelling via artillery pieces and tank fire also occurred near Bani Suheila and in eastern Gaza City.
According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, the Israeli military campaign has claimed over 72,300 Palestinian lives since October 2023. In the month prior, more than 738 Palestinians were reported killed due to everyday hostilities since the ceasefire came into effect in October 2025, including 32 fatalities reported during April alone. Among these deaths was Al Jazeera correspondent Mohammed Wishah, who died earlier this week.
The Israeli military had yet to respond publicly to this incident. These events reflect the continued fragility of the ongoing ceasefire agreement and are indicative of continued violations occurring in this region on an almost daily basis.
