Everyone has their own take on personal hygiene, but Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis definitely surprised people when they revealed just how laid-back they are about bathing.

The couple, who began dating in 2012 and married in 2015, share two kids, Wyatt, born in 2016, and Dimitri, born in 2014. Back in 2021, they appeared on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, where a casual chat about skincare turned into one of the most talked-about celebrity confessions of the year.

It started when co-host Monica Padman mentioned that people shouldn’t wash away all their skin’s natural oils with soap every day. Mila quickly agreed, saying she only washes specific parts of her body, her “pits, t*ts, holes, and soles,” and not the entire body daily. Ashton jumped in, saying he does the same, admitting he only washes his “armpits and crotch” and “nothing else.”

Their relaxed approach doesn’t stop with them. Mila explained that they raised their children the same way, saying she didn’t bathe her newborns often. “When I had kids, I wasn’t the parent that bathed my newborns, ever,” she said, adding that they usually wait until the kids “smell” before giving them a bath. Ashton backed her up, saying, “If you can see the dirt on them, clean them. Otherwise, there’s no point.”

Mila also shared that her attitude toward bathing comes from her childhood. She grew up in Ukraine, where hot water wasn’t always available, so frequent showers weren’t part of her routine.

Their comments quickly went viral, sparking a flood of reactions online. Some people defended the couple, saying daily showers aren’t always necessary, while others were horrified.

Interestingly, Dax Shepard and his wife Kristen Bell later admitted they follow a similar “wait for the stink” approach with their own kids, showing that Kutcher and Kunis aren’t the only ones who take a more relaxed view of soap and showers.
