A$AP Rocky has finally addressed a viral incident from nearly two years ago, offering a heartfelt apology to a young fan named Maddy, whom he accidentally facepalmed outside the Carlyle Hotel in New York City. The moment occurred just hours before the 2023 Met Gala as Rocky was trying to rush into the hotel and avoid being late for the event.

In a segment for Vogue’s Life in Looks, the rapper explained that he was in a hurry to get to his room when the incident occurred. “I was gonna be late for the Met Gala,” he shared. “I was trying to get in my room, and this poor young little lady, man, I didn’t even know that I messed up her glasses.”

Rocky then offered a sincere apology, saying, “To whoever that young lady was. Again, I apologize. I’m so sorry. I ain’t mean to do that, sweetheart. My fault.”

The incident took place when a crowd of fans gathered outside the hotel ahead of the Met Gala. Due to the large number of people, Rocky found himself among them and attempted to jump over a barricade to get inside. In the process, he unintentionally knocked Maddy’s glasses off. Maddy later took to Twitter, sharing a selfie of her crooked glasses and explaining the situation, writing, “ASAP Rocky just literally jumped over me.” She also added, “Rocky tapped my shoulder and was like, ‘Sweetheart, I need to get through and I went, ‘No,’ and then he just shoved.”

Despite the chaos, Rocky eventually arrived fashionably late to the Met Gala, walking the carpet with his then-pregnant girlfriend, Rihanna. He sported a Gucci suit with a plaid kilt and bedazzled jeans, while Rihanna dazzled in a white Valentino gown and a flower-adorned cape.
