Argentina’s government has announced a fresh increase in biofuel prices, adjusting rates for both ethanol and biodiesel sold within the country. The changes were made official on Monday through two resolutions published in the government’s official gazette.

For sugarcane-based bioethanol, the minimum price has been set at 824,044 pesos per litre, equivalent to about $0.62. This marks a rise from the previous price of 800,043 pesos. Corn-based bioethanol also saw an increase, with the new minimum now at 755,258 pesos per litre ($0.57), up from 733,260 pesos.

Biodiesel prices were adjusted as well. The minimum price for biodiesel used in mandatory blending with diesel fuel is now 1,354,507 pesos per ton, or about $1.021. That’s an increase from the earlier level of 1,302,411 pesos.

The government did not provide a detailed explanation for the price hikes, but such adjustments often reflect shifts in production costs, currency fluctuations, or broader efforts to support the domestic biofuels industry. These fuels are a key part of Argentina’s renewable energy mix, with blending mandates designed to reduce reliance on traditional fossil fuels while supporting agricultural producers.

The new prices take immediate effect and will be closely watched by fuel distributors, transportation companies, and agricultural stakeholders, as changes in biofuel costs can ripple through the wider energy and transport sectors.
