Patrick Mahomes has always been a star.

One bright spot is that Patrick Mahomes, the team’s superstar quarterback, has a group of talented wide receivers this year. Former NFL player Kyle Long shared his thoughts on the new lineup. He said Rashee Rice was doing amazing before he got injured and looked like a true number-one receiver. He also said that Hollywood Brown has some exciting skills that make him stand out. Then there’s Xavier Worthy, a young receiver who is super fast. Kyle said that if Xavier just learns to stay in bounds more often, he could help make this group one of the best in the league.
But not everyone is convinced. Some people think that Mahomes doesn’t have the strong team around him that he used to have. According to a report from Bleacher Report, Mahomes has thrown more interceptions (bad throws caught by the other team) than usual since 2023, and his overall stats haven’t been as good. They’re even wondering if Mahomes, who is 29 years old, may have already played his best football.
A sports expert from Fox Sports, Emmanuel Acho, added another interesting point. He compared Mahomes to Tom Brady, who is considered the greatest quarterback of all time. Acho reminded everyone that after Brady won three championships early in his career, his team, the New England Patriots, went 10 whole years without another win. Then they came back and won three more later. Acho wondered if Mahomes might now be entering a similar “10-year break”, since he also has already won three championships.
This upcoming season is going to be a very important one for Mahomes. There’s also talk that his longtime teammate and friend, Travis Kelce, could retire after this year, which would be another big change. If Mahomes is really on the same kind of journey Tom Brady had, then the next several years could be tough and full of challenges, not just for him, but for the whole Chiefs team.
Only time will tell whether Mahomes can keep leading his team to greatness or if they’re about to go through a long, quiet stretch without another big win.
