Anthony Mackie is excited about his upcoming role in Avengers: Doomsday, a film that promises to bring back the classic Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) feeling, according to recent comments he made to IGN. The actor, who has been a part of the MCU as Falcon, shared his anticipation for the film, revealing that production is set to start soon.

Mackie spoke about the film’s direction and how it evokes nostalgia for the early days of the MCU. He mentioned that the Russo Brothers—Joe and Anthony Russo, who directed Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame—are behind the project, and their involvement assures fans that Avengers: Doomsday will be a thrilling ride. He expressed his excitement about the script, which he believes will deliver the kind of experience that audiences have come to love from Marvel.

The film, which was first announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2024, will feature some of the biggest names in the MCU. Notably, Robert Downey Jr. returns to the franchise, but this time in the role of the villain, Dr. Doom, a major antagonist in the Marvel universe. In addition to Downey Jr.’s return, the ensemble cast includes Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, and Danny Ramirez as the new Falcon, alongside Simu Liu reprising his role as Shang-Chi.

Avengers: Doomsday will also bring in iconic mutant characters. Tenoch Huerta returns as Namor, and Channing Tatum is finally stepping into the role of Gambit, a dream role for the actor. Other mutants joining the film include Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Rebecca Romijn as Mystique.
