Andrew Garfield and Julia Roberts are joining forces for a gripping and emotional thriller titled After the Hunt, set to release in theatres on October 10, 2025. The trailer for the film dropped on July 16, offering a first look at the intense story ahead, with both stars taking on the role of college professors caught in a whirlwind of accusations and buried truths.

Directed by Luca Guadagnino, known for Challengers and Call Me by Your Name, the film also features The Bear star Ayo Edebiri in a pivotal role. In the story, Edebiri plays Maggie, a student who accuses Hank (played by Garfield) of sexual misconduct on campus. Julia Roberts’ character, who is also a professor at the same college, becomes entangled in the situation, torn between questioning Maggie’s story and confronting a long-hidden secret from her own past.

The trailer sets the tone for a serious and thought-provoking narrative. One striking moment shows Hank lashing out at younger generations, saying, “All your generation, you’re scared of saying the wrong thing.” Maggie, not backing down, fires back: “Maybe it’s around the same time your generation started making sweeping generalizations about ours?”

After the Hunt promises more than just a classroom debate, it dives deep into the personal and ethical struggles of its characters. According to the official synopsis, the film is “a gripping psychological drama” where Roberts’ character is forced to reckon with a life-changing accusation against her colleague while also dealing with the ghosts of her own history.

The film’s ensemble cast also includes Michael Stuhlbarg and Chloë Sevigny. The screenplay is written by Nora Garrett, whose story explores themes of truth, trust, power, and generational conflict within a college setting.

With powerhouse performances, a timely subject, and a mystery that unfolds layer by layer, After the Hunt looks to be one of 2025’s most talked-about films.
