Andre Braugher’s cause of death has been revealed.
The Brooklyn Nine-Nine alum passed away on Monday, December 11, after a private battle with lung cancer. It has been revealed and confirmed by his longtime publicist Jennifer Allen, in a conversation with Us Weekly.
The late actor rose to immense fame on NBC’s Homicide: Life on the Street, which earned him two Emmy awards. Post appearing in a string of TV and movies roles, Braugher landed the role of Captain Raymond Holt on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which went on to run for eight seasons across NBC and FOX.
His character of Capt. Holt became a tentpole of LGBTQ+ representation in media. He also received two Emmy nominations for his work on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which also starred Andy Samberg, Terry Crews, Stephanie Beatriz, and Melissa Fumero.
Braugher is survived by his wife Ami Brabson, and their three sons, as well as his brother, Charles Jennings and his mother Sally Braugher.
