Amber Heard really wants to get back into Hollywood, but it’s been a tough road for her. The industry still seems to be backing her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, which is making things complicated.
Since losing a big defamation lawsuit against Depp in 2022, Amber has been living in Spain, trying to start fresh. The case was about an article she wrote in 2018 where she said she was a victim of domestic abuse. The jury ended up awarding Depp over 10 million dollars, while Amber got a smaller amount in her countersuit. Later, they settled, and Amber agreed to pay Depp a million dollars, which he donated to charity.
Even though Amber has built a new life in Spain and seems happy there, she’s eager to return to acting. But she wants to do it her way — not just as an actress, but also as a producer, like Depp. She’s been pitching new projects, hoping to have more control behind the scenes. But things haven’t gone as smoothly as she hoped.
According to insiders, it’s been frustrating for her. “She’s happy with her new life in Spain,” one source said, “but she really wants to take things to the next level and earn money on her own terms.”
Her team denies that she’s facing any big problems and says her career is still going strong. But Hollywood insiders suggest that most big players still support Depp, who is doing well professionally.
Right now, Depp is filming a movie called Day Drinker with Penélope Cruz and has caught a lot of attention for his new look—gray hair and a beard—which fans and co-stars are loving. There are even rumors he might return to the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
For Amber, watching Depp’s career bounce back and seeing his growing popularity is reportedly hard to deal with. A source said, “She’ll never forgive him, and they’ll never forgive each other.”
They split back in 2016 after a 15-month marriage, and it seems like the tensions between them are still very much alive.
