Amazon is preparing one of the largest corporate bond offerings ever seen in global markets. The company plans to raise between 37 billion USD and 42 billion USD through bond sales in both the United States and Europe.
The fundraising move is designed to support Amazon’s expanding investments in artificial intelligence. The offering includes multiple bond tranches with different maturities and is expected to attract strong demand from global investors.
Amazon bond sale targets up to 30 billion USD in US debt market
Amazon is marketing high grade bonds in the US market across as many as 11 tranches. The company aims to raise between 25 billion USD and 30 billion USD through this part of the offering.
The bonds will come with maturities ranging from 2 years to 50 years. One of the longest bonds in the deal will mature in 2076.
Initial pricing discussions suggest the 2076 bond could be offered at about 1.55 percentage points above US Treasury yields. The pricing level reflects investor demand as well as the scale of the offering.
This makes the deal one of the largest corporate bond issuances ever attempted by a technology company.
Amazon euro bond sale could raise up to 10 billion EUR
Alongside the US bond offering Amazon is also preparing a major fundraising move in Europe. The company is targeting up to 10 billion EUR through a potential euro denominated bond sale.
The European deal could include as many as eight tranches with maturities ranging from 2 years to 38 years. If completed this structure would be the first eight tranche corporate bond offering in the euro market.
The cross market strategy allows Amazon to access a broader investor base and diversify its funding sources across regions.
Amazon artificial intelligence investment drives record borrowing
The bond offering is part of Amazon’s broader push into artificial intelligence infrastructure and technology development.
Major technology companies are increasing spending on data centers, AI chips and advanced cloud computing systems. These investments require massive capital and long term funding.
Amazon’s latest borrowing plan highlights the scale of the global AI race. Large corporate bond deals are becoming more common as tech companies secure funding to expand artificial intelligence capabilities.
The fundraising effort also reflects strong investor appetite for high grade corporate debt linked to major technology companies. If the deal reaches the upper end of the target range it could become one of the largest corporate bond sales ever executed in global financial markets.
