Amazon has introduced a new AI-powered assistant for its marketplace sellers, codenamed Project Amelia. The assistant, built on Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) Amazon Bedrock, is designed to help sellers grow their businesses by providing answers to questions about key performance metrics and, eventually, helping resolve business-related issues directly. The tool is expected to streamline the experience for sellers by offering real-time support and insights.
Project Amelia is being rolled out in beta, with select U.S. sellers gaining immediate access. A broader U.S. rollout is planned in the coming months, followed by international availability in multiple countries and languages later this year. The assistant is aimed at improving efficiency for sellers, many of whom manage complex operations involving inventory, customer relations, and sales performance across the massive Amazon platform.
Initially, Project Amelia will focus on providing answers to sellers’ questions regarding their metrics, such as sales performance, customer feedback, and inventory levels. However, Amazon intends to expand the assistant’s capabilities over time, allowing it to handle more complex tasks, including resolving issues like incorrect listings or shipping problems.
The introduction of Project Amelia is part of Amazon’s broader strategy to enhance the seller experience on its platform, ensuring that merchants have access to the tools they need to succeed in a highly competitive online retail environment. By integrating advanced AI capabilities, Amazon aims to provide its sellers with a more intuitive, responsive, and proactive support system.
As the largest online marketplace, Amazon’s continued investment in AI solutions for sellers reflects its commitment to fostering growth on its platform while staying ahead of technological trends. Project Amelia could represent a significant step forward in how sellers interact with the marketplace and manage their business operations.
