BTS’ Jungkook continues to prove that his global appeal is no passing trend. In a recent international survey conducted by Arirang TV, the youngest BTS member topped the list as the most popular male K-pop idol. The survey, which took place between June 23 and July 7 and collected responses from fans in 94 countries, reveals just how deeply K-pop has spread across the world. The results, announced on July 8 and reported by Munhwa Ilbo, highlighted both male and female celebrities who are dominating the current Hallyu wave.

Jungkook emerged at the top of the male category, gathering 12.7% of the votes from global fans. Fellow BTS members followed closely behind, with Jimin taking second place at 11.1%, and RM, V, J-Hope, and Jin also appearing in the top seven. The only non-BTS idol to break into the list was SHINee’s Taemin, who secured the sixth spot with 4.9% of the votes. The only BTS member absent from the list was SUGA, though the group’s overall dominance remains unquestionable.

On the female side, IU led with a commanding 17.0% of the votes, clearly setting herself apart from the competition. Her massive popularity is no surprise, as she continues to shine not just as a singer but also as a successful actress in K-dramas, making her a prominent face in both the music and television industries. BLACKPINK members filled out most of the remaining top spots, with Rosé coming in second, followed closely by Jennie and Lisa in a tie for third. Jisoo and aespa’s Karina rounded out the top six, reinforcing the continued impact of female idols who balance music, fashion, and acting careers on a global scale.

This survey once again illustrates the stronghold that BTS and BLACKPINK have on the global K-pop stage, with IU’s solo strength standing out even among the biggest idol group members. While the numbers vary slightly, what’s clear is that fans around the world remain deeply invested in these artists. Their reach goes far beyond South Korea, shaping pop culture in countless countries and solidifying their status as global icons of the Korean Wave.
