Alex Bregman’s big week: Hot bat, new baby and hope for the Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox kicked off the season with high hopes after a flashy offseason, but their early performance hasn’t exactly lived up to the hype. Despite major moves—like trading for pitching ace Garrett Crochet, promoting rising star Kristian Campbell, and signing All-Star third baseman Alex Bregman—they’re sitting on a losing record through 19 games.

But if there’s one move that is clearly paying off, it’s Bregman.

The two-time All-Star is swinging a scorching bat right now, hitting .321 with 25 hits, seven doubles, and a strong .564 slugging percentage. He’s been one of the few bright spots on an otherwise inconsistent team.

His standout moment? Tuesday night against the Rays, where he delivered an absolute clinic: two home runs, four RBI, and a career-high five hits. Talk about showing up when your team needs it.

“Felt good. More importantly, it felt good to win,” Bregman said after the game. That win was much needed—and maybe just the spark the Red Sox need to turn things around.

But the good news didn’t stop there for Bregman. After the game, he revealed he’s about to become a dad—again! His wife Reagan is expected to give birth to their second child on Wednesday, so Bregman will be stepping away briefly on the paternity list.

“See you Friday,” he told reporters, already looking ahead to rejoining the team.

In the meantime, the Red Sox will finish their series against the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday, take a breather Thursday, and face the Chicago White Sox Friday—who recently won their series against Boston.

Manager Alex Cora put it best: “He has a few things the upcoming days family-wise, so to have a great day like this is kind of the beginning of a great week for him.”

And hopefully, a great turning point for the Sox too. Between personal milestones and red-hot hitting, Bregman’s week is shaping up to be unforgettable—and the team is hoping he keeps the magic going when he returns.
